Admin Bud-EOpen-Source Middleware for AI Assistants

What is Admin Bud-E? ​

Admin Bud-E is LAION's open-source middleware and user management layer for AI assistants. It sits between browser-based frontends (like School Bud-E) and AI providers (Google Vertex AI, Mistral, Together, and others).

The middleware:

• Receives API requests from the frontend
• Routes them to configured providers
• Measures usage in tokens, characters, and time
• Maintains per-user and per-project credit balances
• Generates detailed usage reports

Users don't need to register with external vendors or manage multiple API keys. Instead, admins issue one single "Universal API key" per user that works for all capabilities: LLM, VLM, TTS, and ASR.
